Turning Tides

Turning Tides

A Poem by Kaygexx

We had to write a Shakespearean Sonnet for english, and this was mine.

Turning Tides

As we go through life, you stand by my side,

And I beg you to never drop my hand.

You say we'll see as tide turns to tide,

But by my side you will forever stand.

The seasons change and time passes us by.

From sorrow to our hours of laughter,

We always managed to see eye to eye;

You promised me forever and after.

Suddenly you crumbled away from me;

The walls we built together tumbled down.

I was faced with the choice to fight or flee.

Turning away, I fled without a sound.

You said, "Stop pretending it's not ending."

It ended, and I was still pretending.
