I can't help but smile.

Memories from the first days we spoke.

How you tackled me on that hill.

It was unlikely love,

But love nevertheless.

We grew together

Over the months that followed.

Inseparable,

And blind to any problems.

In October 2010,

The winds began to change.

After a year and a half,

We began to fall apart.

October twenty-third,

I broke my promise

By breaking your heart.

But, mine broke right along with it.

I said some things that night

I can't be proud of,

And you did just the same.

My heart ached,

Knowing the pain you went through.
