Damaged

Damaged

A Poem by Lockedheart

Were all sick in our own ways
desperately trying to give meaning to days
when they all just blend together
nothing to tell them apart
except the pieces that broke off your  childhood heart

its funny how we remember pain the clearest
the whole list
you are the only one who can understand what you went through
others might try
 and others might leave you

because damaged people aren't desired
for their heart can be scorched
for their minds can be set on fire
by anything
or nothing.

their feared and thrown to the side
but their the ones who can see best through the lies
pain will change you more than you know
more than you expected
it won't let you grow

As one who dealt with childhood abuse there is a.bit of truth in these words that really speak to the trauma and how its pain lingers throughout life. And how it does keep the soul stunted and at times unable to move forward. Thank you for sharing your poem with us.

Thats exactly where this poem came from. Childhood abuse can ruin your life and overtake it to where.. read more
It is strange how the memory of painful events looms larger in the mind than pleasant memories. The scars of the worst mistakes and humiliations heal the slowest. It may be a survival thing, a mechanism of the primitive mind to remind one that danger still lurks. Sadly, though, it can also rob the mind of joy.
