In This House

                     By Lorrie Mac Gregor

As the old nun lay dying

I forgave her for carving out my baptismal vows.

I heard the bells and those waters of a neophyte fell.

As we sang an elegy, a psalm, and a prayer

I heard my God

"In my house there are many mansions"

But Lord where should I hide now?

In the shadows of the house I wished was mine,

I ran to a bell tower where gulls screached,

they looking for the sea

I looking for the soul-filled inner me.

  She was gone

I had no place to roam'

and so I walked the path I dreamed of

daring dreams in my soul.

I turned and cried out a silent prayer:

Lord remember me in This House

In Your house
For I want to hide

in your mystery and

clothe me in robes of purity.
