Writer's Release By: Lorraine Pearson
June 16, 2008
Letters and words
Fitting on to a page
Arranged in format
Letting go of some rage
Or
Some other emotion
That I must let loose
As my fingers type
And
Express all I choose.
No writer's block here
Thoughts flowing with ease…
As I'm typing and tapping
On my "pc's" keys…
Releasing my feelings
Into the air
Allows me to know
It is with much care
I am loving myself
By not locking "stuff" in
I'm getting it out
And I know its "win-win"
So don't patronize
Or issue me snickers
Because even this "ditty"
Has a lesson for readers!
Great write! I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I write primarily for the release. I have thoughts, ideas, notions in my head...some have been there a long time, others just pop in suddenly...all will haunt me until I release them. Writing is personal catharsis...get it out and let it go. Sharing is simply an interesting thing to do, but not my motivator for writing. I enjoy the personal challenge of getting my thoughts out in rhyme, or haiku, or free form verse; it has very little to do with popular appeal. But, once it's out and done, it is nice to share. Thanks for sharing this!
Lorraine, have you ever written a bad poem?? Your "ditty" has great rhyme, flows smoothly, has a great subject, that a lot of people can identify with and it made me laugh, what more could I ask? Oh last, but not least, I love the pic you picked for this ditty!
L, great wisdom in this poem. Nothing helps ease pain as much as the pen, that sweet release of a bleeding instrument upon the unjudging parchment, absorbing our fear and anguish with seemingly unlimited capacity. You've hit the nail on the head is a wonderfully playful way.
Brilliant!
It actually is pretty therapeutic sometimes... writng what's on our mind, kinda letting it all out as A.J. said. And, quite often, one comes across little gems that others have written that help us to understand we are not as completely alone in everything we experience as it sometimes seems.
Since I discovered the Cafe I've been able to write about a couple of things that I've kept stored up for many years. While deciding what should and shouldn't be shared here can be a struggle sometimes, it can indeed be quite helpful letting some things go at last.
Great write, thanks for sharing!

I am a freed soul that enjoys writing as much as reading. Its exciting to be amongst others in a forum such as this where no matter the path I'm on in my journey through life, I know I can express wh.. more..
