Reality's Ripple

By: Lorraine Pearson

April 7, 2008

I await a ripple

In the pond

Called life.

Some sense

Made

Of my reality.

Or

Have I been surveying

Only a reflection?

Reality

Seen in reverse

Turned upside down.

A reflection unknowingly lived as what is real?

Gazing upon the water is courageous enough.

Truths discovered--

Truths reflected--

Vanity,

Sometimes echoing back

When seeking understanding

In the unexplainable.

Lead me to the water's edge

Let me gaze upon it.

Is my life in the reflection,

Or

Has the reflection become my life?

The answer is disguised

In the water

Beckoning me

From the mirror within

The ripple is but a stone's throw away.

A poetically introspective composition, reflecting a conscious mind, purposely relying on thinking, reasoning, and examination of your own thoughts and feelings, in a spiritual soul searching manner.

Very creative!

Note: I don't know why, but there appears to be a rather large empty space between the end of your write and the review panal!

Very creative, as usual for you...almost existential. Certainly thought-provoking, worth pondering a while...next time I see a placid pool of water, perhaps I will dare ask my reflection the same. As always, I like your structure and appreciate your visual presentation. Thank you for sending this my way.

I am loving this. I was intrigued by the idea that the reflection could be mistaken for the live it portrays. The final line was all telling, "The ripple is but a stone's throw away.". Every wave of reality is right there just waiting to happen. There is beauty and tragedy lying in wait. Which one will have it's way with me next? This is thought provoking.
