This shell that I’m in
Doesn’t match who I am
And it hasn’t
For quite
A long time.

I long to align
With
My true design
To feel secured, battened down
Against this wind.

Its lonely in here
In this skin
That I wear
The mirror reflects
Someone else—

I know that I’m home
For my soul I do own
I just wish
I could stop
Feeling weird.

I really love the way you write and capture such a raw energy among your words. You tell a tale so vividly that anyone that reads your words is able to see them and feel them other than just read them. They do not remain just laying upon a page they take a life of their own. It was a great pleasure to read your words.

Tonight I have read so many of your magnificent, heartfelt pieces of writing. I am only writing here on this particular space right now because I can find the emotional strength to do it. We have spoken, shared and understand the journey.
Your writing is 'pure honesty'. No frills. Perhaps it is in the purest form that reaches into the depth of the reader's soul that makes us understand your heart so well. You write beautifully my friend.
The subject in this Group is not an easy topic; I know. But to find a way to share the journey, make others understand without sympathy, is a gift. You have that gift. You share, without self-pity. You educate, without preaching.
You are a woman I admire...not only for your talent as a writer...but as a woman and a friend.
Thank you for continuing to write...please never stop sharing your gift.

what lovely lines! :

This shell that I'm in
Doesn't match who I am

&

I long to align
With
My true design

I really enjoy how you present shared human conditions and present them with earthy naturalness and lucid clarity - the poem's voice could be anyones, it is often ours - we feel like we own your poems rather than feel that they are yours to share...

I find these lines a tad awkward sounding:

'I know that I'm home
For my soul I do own'

thank you for sharing :)

Self expression at its finest; confidence in the fact that you are an entity separate from physical evidence is not only critical to understanding who we are it also protects us from the outside world.

Very nice poem. Something we can all find encouragement from in difficult times.

Thank you for the send.

It easy to get lost in what others want and think and pretty soon we forget ho we are... but in the end we must look in the mirror and those who really care will accept us for who we are... you words cry out loud with strength and courage.
