Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Lorenzo

Sleep

I lay on a cloud

and sleep escapes me.

I close my eyes to a haunting past.

When did these nightmares start?

I cannot remember.

Constantly freezing,

while embraced in warm blankets.

Who will haunt me tonight?

It is two in the morning

My eyes plead to close

And force themselves open.

Ah, yes. The familiar feeling of the midnight ghosts. When memory is at its best, regret at its strongest, and life at its bleakest. It's as if morning never comes. Sometimes you don't even want it to.

Good poem. Good structure. Good capture of feeling.

I've never had PTSD so I can't say I identify with you and wouldn't try. I'm sure it's a horrible thing to have to experience night after night. You expressed your feelings well here.

Very nice. I like the imagery and the embrace of warm blankets leaving the subject cold. That kind of coldness comes from within and it usually pairs with nightmares and insomnia. Very well done ☺
