Warrior WomanA Poem by LorennA poem about the strength of all womenWarrior Woman sits silent & waits She stays awake with the owl in the night beneath the silver moon The shadows creep in and dance about But still she sits silent & waits
Warrior Woman crys out & keens She walks by day with hardened feet Gathering strength with each step she takes But still she crys out & keens
Warrior Woman thinks deeply & knows what she must do She frets for many but woes to the few As her heart beats for love and for blood But still she thinks deeply & knows what she must do
Warrior Woman swoops down & strikes fast She lays waste to the cruel and unnecessary A perilous task to protect and forge new beginnings But still she swoops down & strikes fast
Warrior Woman sits silent & waits, crys out & keens, thinks deeply & knows what she must do, swoops down & strikes fast
The wind driven rain, the pale fallen snow, the breaking morning sun, these are her natural guides Moon-glinted streams, shivering-leaved trees, dew-beaded spider webs, these are her magical guises
The medicine man, heyoka, or not The grandmother who cares for the hearth The babe that cries for his milk all day
These are all hers, part of her, inside of her
Even the brave who's heart beats for blood and for love - he is in her, too This a why she does not stop & fold into the weakness she feels from time to time From time to time Warrior Woman feels weakness
But still she sits silent & waits, crys out & keens, thinks deeply & knows what she must do, swoops down & strikes fast
