On The Side Of Angels

On The Side Of Angels

A Poem by Lorelei1969
"

A poem inspired by the BBC adaptation of "Sherlock Holmes" with Benedict Cumberbatch and his confrontation with James Moriarity.

"

I offered you my hand

Within the depths of hell

You met my hand with scorn,

Arrogance, and dismay

I heard you say I’m ordinary,

That talk is cheap and words are lofty

“You’re on the side of the angels,” you said.

You must have seen my broken wings

Ah! But that right there was your first mistake

Presuming my allegiance lies in heavenly realms

That I am in no way fallen

That I possess within me a working heart

Though I may stand on the side of angels

And look to be a righter of wrongs

Think not for one moment nor live under the illusion

That I may walk among them
