ChildhoodA Poem by Lore
I took my mom out for a walk, this afternoon
it’s been a while since those strides around the block
As a child we walked every day
But time moved fast, and we grew apart
Today, we passed the house
That, that old man used to live in
He sat in his porch, drinking tea
And I always waved at him in excitement
As he waved back
We passed the backyard on the corner
Where that dog used to roam
He barked as we walked by
And I laughed, wanting to pet him
We walked amongst the helicopter leaves
That we used to throw in the air
As it propelled to the ground.
We passed the houses of old friends and new
Reminiscing on the past that we shared together
She smiled just to be there with me
And I realized on this walk
That with more support and love
Maybe she will understand
And we could spend more time with nature
on these beautiful days
Like we did in the past
when I was a child
