Memory

Memory

A Poem by Lore

We all wonder what happens after death,

Are you satisfied?

Or was it just all blackness,

The second after you died?

The first memories are the worst

When you’re plunged into it, unrehearsed.

Though we grow and live,

those memories remain.

All the emotions in the world

Don’t echo more than the pain.

I follow your footsteps,

Which stopped so suddenly.

Abandoned by fate,

While in the midst of guiding me.

I too create a trail,

In a world where no one will find me.

Leaving an underachieved past

And disappointments behind me.

The worst memories are the first

Plunged into it, unrehearsed

Though we grow and live,

those memories remain.

All the emotions in the world

Don’t echo more than the pain.

If we could start again,

I’d have opened your eyes to the stars above you.

If we could start again

I would’ve told you I loved you.
