Days Gone

Days Gone

A Poem by LoperForLife

What happened to the days gone by?
The sigh of a gentle breeze pushing through emerald planes
Radiant smiles spreading cherubic faces wide
The pounding of hooves over rolling happiness, nothing but the sun on our faces
as we pretended to be princesses, warriors, queens
our loyal steeds steadfast and patient,
flying the mismatched colors of our kingdoms.
We were completely and utterly free.

What happened to the days gone by?
Endless treats, rootbeer candies melting on endlessly talking mouths
as we played with model horses, fought pretend battles
finding real, true love within some sort of plastic mold.
Forts sprung up with impressive ease,
shining screens filled our minds with prancing horses and promises of adventure.
Our eyes never once faltered,
as we outstayed the moon with inked pages in hand.
We were completely and utterly happy.

What happened to the days gone by?
Film sucked us into unaccepted fantasy,
Tattoine, Hoth; yes, we were undeniably strange at times.
Imagination, so vivid and light, spun us into incredible stories.
We were rebels; we were comfortable being us.
We were completely and utterly best friends.

What happened to the days gone by?
A few passing glances,
A couple shared classes,
Everything gone but a few memories.

What happened to the days gone by.
