The RideA Chapter by LoperForLifeShort prologue
With weightless hooves and a soaring heart, the huge gelding launched himself energetically over the multicolored rails of a 4 foot jump. Bay hide rippling over straining muscles and stretched tendons, he cleared the fence, landing gently on the other side. That was years ago, before the accident that left Legacy scarred and violent.
I remember that night; a huge inferno exploding from the elegant structure of the barn. Home of elite horses and close friends, it was practically home. The fire was horrible to say the least. 5 horses out of the original 9 died that night. The official cause was a upturned old fashioned lantern in the hayloft. I'm sure that wasn't the real cause. But to this day, Legacy has been half crazed with fear of light and loud noises. His formerly flawless coat has deep, angry burn scars. His eyes are the worst, though. Filled with a dangerous fury and a horrible anguish. I promised him I would heal him.
