Slumber

Slumber

A Poem by Lookwithinsight
"

My attempt at capturing the feeling of dosing off.

"

An hour past midnight,
I lay alone
under covers in pale light.
Think I’m close to home.
I don’t know.
I study patterns.
With each breath I learn.
I slip into comatose.
Comfort just under my nose.
I suppose this is purgatory.
I’m locked in for the night ,
Until I find the door key.

This reminds me of giving in to sleep when I'm procrastinating on things I need to do. Part of me wants to be awake but then my body's desire for sleep overtakes my brain's desire to stay awake and paralyzes me for a minute before I lose consciousness.
