The Raven

The Raven

A Poem by Leanne Estelle
"

An assignment for my creative writing class where I had to use a different rhyme scheme for each stanza.

"
My body - cold and still
Patiently sitting in a tree
Ready and waiting for the kill
How could she know her killer would be me?

She wonders aimlessly - singing a sweet song
Never thinking there could be something wrong
When she turns I swoop down - vicious and strong
"Don't worry my dear; this won't take long."

I scratch and I claw
Pecking at her eyes
'Til she meets her demise
And falls to the floor.

My hand-like claw, dripping blood
As her body lay motionless in the mud
Her fragile frame gathering dust
Young and naive, she gave me her trust.

Nice work for the assignment.
Though rhymes schemes are different in each stanza, the piece conveyed meaning perfectly.

Great stuff, for a dark poem.
