Desperate Measures

Desperate Measures

A Poem by Leanne Estelle
"

My first piece of homework for my creative writing class.

"
Honey, I need to tell you something
Don't look at me like that - it's really nothing
I was having problems, problems at work
You see, my boss, is a total jerk.
I was 5 minutes late, then 10, then 15
I tried to explain but he started to scream
I tried to tell him that our child was sick
But he laughed and said "Ha! You must think I'm thick."
With bills to pay and food to provide
'Final notice' through the door I had to quickly decide
There was only one course of action I could think to take
Even though my teenage self had made the same mistake.
I went back to those thugs with my tail between my legs
It wasn't easy since they asked me to beg
They called me their 'blud', their 'cuz', their 'fam'
But about this crew I don't give a damn.
I was thinking of you when the first deal went down
I thought of our child and her disappointed frown
But if it meant you had a home I'd go gladly to the nick...
And that's why I've returned to selling the white powder bricks.

My number one passion is writing; there is nothing I love more is this world. My pen is my best friend for it knows me better than I know myself sometimes, whenever I don't know how to express my feel.. more..
