How does forgetting feel like?A Poem by Misty DazeWhen I thought I'd forgotten you, it was no one other than me that I'd lost.
The inky night sky resembled the state of her mind
As she was forgetting him slowly with time She had dreamt of a starry sky A bright night in moonlight Along with him near a gleaming lake But all of it has been long buried In that graveyard of memories inside her mind As she was forgetting him with time Long ago, in a world of luminescence She chose to reside, reside with him Only to end up with her heart burning to ashes As the world shined by her heart's incandescent light Eventually she gave up the light And decided to move to the world of dark night She tried to forget him in her plight She did what she thought was right Right was to forget him, forget his sight He was like a ghost to her, He whispered in her dreams and Shouted in her thoughts, never leaving her alone His voice mocked her, his laugh poked fun at her She used to wake up in the midnight Desperately running from his honeyed web Slowly she emptied her mind, she miserably Failed in the start but her conscience left her with no choice She succeeded in steadily forgetting him with time But at the cost of losing her heart and mind She still struggles with that empty void Which once had a soul which used to be overjoyed He still sometimes visits her in her dreams in midnight Sometimes in that graveyard or in bright daylight Causing her to wake up shivering & staying up all night In blissful agony as she was forgetting him with time. © 2024 Misty DazeAuthor's Note
