A Red RoseA Poem by Misty DazeWhen you think you have finally found the one and...
I was living in a house of gloom
The house was deserted, empty were the rooms The bleak garden had no flowers to bloom Through the cracked window, I used to see the sky without moon One day someone knocked at the door Too scared to open, I counted till twenty four Mustering the courage, I opened the door I found a rose lying on the floor The next day, I again found a rose I picked it up & put it in the vase again Slowly it became a habit I can't dispose The urge to meet the stranger was driving me insane The next day, I was waiting at the gate for him All the ifs and buts left my mind When I saw him with a rose, changing my autumn to spring Slowly his sight became a whim, his voice resembled violins The house of gloom became bright The empty rooms now echoed light The bleak garden now flourished with flowers As we both sat under the window, watching the moon for hours Then one evening, I gave him a red rose Suddenly there was a wave of questions in those Pristine eyes. I confessed I've become his love's victim That I've kept each blonde rose in my vase till it filled to brim But I found out that I was wrong, His roses never symbolized that love all along "They were meant for a friendship, I apologize." With this, he left with a look of sympathy in his eyes. The brightness of the house was no longer in sight The empty rooms were craving his light The flowers in the garden withered white I watched through the window with a blonde & a red rose, the moonless night As the house of gloom which was my heart Shattered in a million pieces at last. ~Ankita © 2024 Misty DazeAuthor's Note
