all along

all along

A Poem by LonelySoul

As I sit here at my desk,
wondering what to write,
searching deep inside myself,
wondering if I'll get it right,
Knowing that I had done my best,
blundering in my life,
Every little task or quest,
everything in my sight,
So I sit here at this desk,
wondering what to write...

What I wanted all along
to have a place where I belong,
a place to love and call my home,
to write my songs and write my poems,
it may take me through the night,
but will I ever get it right?

To find that rhythem,to find that goal,
within my words found in my soul,
it might take me all night long,
I hope the answers are in my song,
I hope you see the one true me,
and hope my words will set you free...

What I wanted all along
to have a place where I belong,
a place to love and call my home,
to write my songs and write my poems,
it may take me through the night,
but will I ever get it right?

Calm your worries and ease those fears,
Life is precious wipe those tears,
after all we're just human beings,
everything else, just material things,
One day at a time is all we get,
Walk on the shores, get your feet wet,
that's just the way life goes,
so take the time to enjoy a rose...

What I wanted all along
to have a place where I belong,
a place to love and call my home,
to write my songs and write my poems,
it may take me through the night,
but will I ever get it right?

As long as the stars are blinking above,
I'll give to you my strength and my love,
and let you know what life really means,
safe in my arms and in my dreams,
I always try to get a smile from frowns,
even when our world's up-side-down,
I hope you see the one true me,
and hope my words will set you free...

This poem knocked my frickin' EYE out!! The rhythm is smooth n' the rhyming is tight. N' I love how you build this like a mantra: "What I wanted all along/to have a place where I belong,/a place to love and call my home/to write my songs and write my poems/it may take me through the night/but will I ever get it right?"

Fabulous stuff! Your poem gave me a smile, and a ray of sunshine even on a dark night! Thank you for writing it, LonelySoul! ㋡

Very nice! A lot of individual lines say a lot! But the flow is a little crooked. It may be the repeated stanzas tat dont fit. If you structure it differently it may be better and just smooth out the kinks. But it is a great subject for the poem.
