The Soldier Stood

The Soldier Stood

A Poem by LonelySoul

The Soldier Stood
The Soldier stood to tell his story,
he showed his blood and scars of Glory,
The Soldier stood to Honour his Drill,
another line or space fill,
another young man's face to kill,
through the scope I see his eyes,
I feel his fear,he's about my size,
I wonder if he'll realize,
will he talk to God before he dies?
the Soldier stood to tell his story,
the Purple Heart,His Faded Glory,
upon his tombstone they will write,
He Loved his world but didn't want to fight,
the soldier stood to Honour his Drill,
now just another grave to fill,
another Soul lost to the fight,
another Angel to God in Flight...

Very touching! I personally truly appreciate this "ode" to the soldiers. They don't receive nearly enough admiration or credit for their dedication and loyalty. I really like this work. Well done!
