The girl by the window

The girl by the window

A Poem by Lonely Bunny
"

A bunny reminisces his time with a girl who was drowning in her loneliness

"
It was a snowy night when I met her
Looking out the window
Streams of loneliness falling down on the sill
She saw my frigid body outside
And rescued me from the ice
Into her sanctuary of solitude
I was treated quite well
And being the chivalrous bunny I am,
I ventured out to meet the reason of her tears.
I wandered far into the forests
And deep inside the seas.
Till the curious nature spirit one day asked
“Oh silly creature, what do you wish to seek so desperately?”
I tell them it’s the key to my saviour’s heart.
Without it, her tears may drown
Her lonely penitentiary
They laugh in my face
And tell me “Close your eyes,
I’ll guide you to the villain of your guardian maiden’s case”
I feel myself get whisked away,
Through unknown fields and plains
And then there I am,
To my….very own saviour’s place?

“Oh, silly creature, don’t you get it now?”
The hero of your story couldn’t become one for her own,
For she, afraid of heartbreak, let hers suffocate in a box”
I shake my head and raise my brow.
“W-well I don’t see what’s wrong with that”
I say, trying to defend the girl who rescued me
“Oh silly bunny, what you don’t understand is simple,
But a truth not many have unwrapped”
“You see, a broken heart can mend itself well, but not one hidden in a shell”
And that my friend, opened my eyes
And this wandering bunny stayed with her for many long nights
Until she opened herself, and bid goodbye to her lonely spell.

Author's Note

Lonely Bunny
This poem was written in the form of a conversation a bunny may have, late at night, with a friend, a couple beers in hand (paw), reminiscing about the life lessons they have learnt. Open up your heart. It was meant to grow and hurt and learn and love. Not shrivel up and die

The Bunny is such a good friend. Knows to return a favor, express gratitude and love for love given. I see how expertly you have sketched an adorable Bunny and given him such an endearing character. If only the girl by the window knew how lucky she was to have the Bunny by her side. I'm glad she opened up to her friend, before it was too late. You're a superb writer.

I’m glad you found the personality of the bunny so enedearing! Animals are so much purer than us. .. read more
A fine metaphor you write… applies to humans as well, lonely, needy, wanting to break from their shell, and this happened in your write, very inspiring indeed

May all the lonely bunnies find safety and fields of sweet clover to nibble. I enjoyed this.

Thank yo for your lovely words, Fabian. Stay healthy!
I wrote this inspired by my previous poem. Feel free to read that one too, although I would say I prefer this one more. Stay healthy and happy, everyone.
(I had to edit this a bit because it had a few typos because I was up late at night)
