We make our own destiny

We make our own destiny

A Poem by Paige Cawkwell

Stop for a minute
 Take a breath
Step away from your life... your worries
'Impossible!!!' you say
You're right, life doesn't have a pause button, life doesn't wait for you, life continues with.. or without you. You can either choose to except who you are or you can forever live in your own purgatory.

Life.
Death.
They're both the same.
It's up to you which one you choose to take hold of... which one you choose to be.
Look around you
Look at the sky
The ground
The people
The birds
... look at the world.
Look close enough and you'll be able to see yourself, your reflection on the surface of existence
Are you smiling?
Or is that a frown you see?

Decisions
This is what it all comes down to
The decision to hide... hide away in your fancy houses, in your perfect little lives
Or to be SEEN!!
Stand up!
Stand out!
Speak up!
Shout out!
LIVE!

Lives change and paths cross which will alter life itself
Do you believe in destiny?
No...
Destiny is just a fancy word used to make menial coincidences feel worthwhile
We don't need to believe in fate
Life is a series of events which lead us through many different doors
But we ultimately choose our own doors
Our own paths

 We make our own destiny
