The Calm During the Storm

The Calm During the Storm

A Poem by Anne Young

On a stormy eve
When calm comes to stay.
There is a silence, a silence,
That speaks louder than words

It speaks of things that have passed
And things that have yet to be
You hear it in the crash of the thunder,
The sweet whispers of raindrops
As they glide over everything in their path

You see it in the treetops as they sway in the wind.
You see it in the flash of lightning,as it blazes all round
Eminating in all its glory and power
If only for a moment in time

And there,
During the crashing and the flashing
And the whispers of the storm
You sense a deep calm
The Calm During the Storm
