Glass BoxA Story by NeekaOne of my friends committed suicide so I thought why not write a story about suicide.Once upon a time there lived a normal girl with a normal life. Everything was perfect in her life, she had her parents and friends. Until the wrecking ball of bad news and dreams came crashing through the walls of that perfect life. Tears slowly crept down her cheek when the doctor came into the hospital waiting room and told her that her parents were no longer on this earth. The only family she had was taken away from her by one drunk driver, who got away with just a few scrapes. Before she knew it she was cast away into a new home and new and strange family who didn't really have her best interests at heart. Everyday she went through the same thing at her new school. The words from the other kids were like knives being thrown into her heart, just because she was different. She never understood why these kids who didn't even know her would pick on her or call her ugly names. Was it because her parents were dead? Did they think she was just some charity case? Everyday she would ask herself these questions but despite her efforts she couldn't find an answer. Monday mornings she would beg her foster parents to let her stay home, but it was always the same thing " No sweetie there is nothing wrong with the school." Anytime she would try and tell them only to have the same thing repeated " They're just kids." With those words she felt like she was being thrown into a little glass box that only got smaller and smaller. The keepers of that box sat on a mighty throne always laughing at her attempts to open the box. The girl would wish and wish that some one knock down the keepers throne and set her free but sadly no one did. There were times when people noticed her in the glass box and would come over only to tell her the same thing " They're just kids." These words were like a bullet to the heart. Slowly the glass box got smaller, eventually the girl started to lose hope. Hope in herself and others. Then one day she just couldn't take it anymore. She decided that the only way to break free of this glass box was to stop breathing. Later that day her foster parents came home only to discover the girl on the bathroom floor with a razor in her hand and scarlet running from her wrists. A single piece of paper lay beside her and on that paper was written " Why would no one rescue me from the glass box?" Sadly the girl's life came to an end. What would've happened if some one took the big step and unlocked that glass box? Would she still be alive? Would she be a happy smiley girl? Questions that would never have an answer ran through everyone's minds. If only some one saw the pain or even put a stop to the torture she might've been alive. Would you have opened the glass box and set her free? Never take some one's smile for granted for it could be fake. Next time you see some one trapped in a glass box be their savior and smash that box. For who knows you might just make a fake smile into a real one. The End © 2016 NeekaAuthor's Note
