Collision of lovers

Sometimes I feel like giving up, in the heat of the explosion

But I know I will never give you up

We get so entangled in emotion

And anger fills me deep, “shut up’

 

Give me space to breath

Not for days or hours, I need only minutes

To calm the storm beneath my raging soul

I spit fire at you and you retaliate

This is love but portrayed as hate

 

You always force me to stand there and  talk it through

But I’m not that kind of girl, thought you knew after all these years

Appreciate my silence, embrace me and step aside

So I can see our faults, sew my wounds before we collide

 

Fights don’t change what I feel, no, what I will always feel inside

True hearts are in this together, even if it’s a bumpy ride

A weak heart gives up and follows the suit of others

We grow strong, it’s just a collision of lovers

It has often been said that there's a fine line between love and hate. You managed to tread that line effectively here, while maintaining that taking a few moments to breathe and put things in perspective is sometimes necessary even in a strong relationship. The imagery conveyed the passion of both emotions very well, especially with the line about wounds and sewing them. I love it.
Also I particularly liked this line: "True hearts are in this together, even if it’s a bumpy ride". That's very telling and important to remember. Very well written.

sometimes silence is best...we need to put things in perspective for ourselves enough that we can even begin to talk about them.
