Woman Wrapped in White

Woman Wrapped in White

A Poem by Lola J
"

Women Wrapped in White is about a homeless woman I saw who was lying asleep wrapped in a white blanket on the footsteps of a church. This poem is dedicated to her.

“Women wrapped in white”

I saw a woman wrapped in white

At the footsteps of Heaven's light

The steps of judgment

People walk by her, the women wrapped in white

She must have been sleeping on the steps all night

As she sleeps vulnerable to the world

She is only protected by the cathedral walls

The voice of sympathy never calls

For the women wrapped in white

A color of innocence

A world she lives in full of consequence

She has no place to call home

The blanket of white, all she may own

She lays asleep waiting

The final chapters of her stories awaiting

This is a sad one and reflects the reality of what we see too often. I like that you've given her a personality of sorts.
