The Bottle Of You

The Bottle Of You

A Poem by Lola Falangi
"

...

"

I take the bottle of you.

It's been laying on the shelf

staring at me.

Staring right through me.

It looks empty from so far away,

but I look closer and it's filled.

Filled to the top.

I take the bottle of you.

I hold it to the sunlight.

I watch the liquid stand still.

It doesn't move.

It shows me nothing.

You show me nothing.

I put the bottle of you to my chest.

I hold it there.

All of a sudden I feel this urge to break it open.

I want to throw it against the wall,

watch it shatter,

watch the liquid explode.

Instead, I twist open the top.

I smell you.

I take a huge whiff of you.

Then I put the top back on

and place you back on the shelf.

There is the bottle of you

laying on the shelf.

Staring at me- staring right through me.
