Cartography

A Poem by Loganium

Oh I would be
the one
to gaze into that world

For with but a glance
I'm stunned
I can see
the intellect
humour
kindness and trust
with but a glance

I would spend my days
mapping every breathtaking detail
every last one
though my feeble hand
would do little justice

But I am not alone
others will look
and see beauty

Others will gaze deeply
awestruck

Others will see
the dancing lights
hear the fanfare
feel the bonds of the earth
disappear

But not I
I am doomed to just one glance
doomed to read the maps
drawn by others
depicting the window
of your soul

this haunts me
To see it, to desire it, to never have it,
and not just to never have it,
to know that you will never have it...
I will ponder this
