Dullaby

Dullaby

A Poem by Guido Vermeulen

Poem I wrote just after my brother died..

DULLABY

I need a lullaby

that takes me to bed

and dreams the nightmares away

dreams me happy

and is here to stay.

I wish for a lullaby

to dull the pain and

quiet the night.

Teach me a lullaby

teach me music that

sings me wings

sings me far far away

sings me to better places

to stay.

I want a lullaby

to wrap around me like a blanket.

smother me with warm embrace

hot cocoa, whipped cream and the sound of tears

whimpering on the window

from outside.

Sing me a lullaby

Please.
