This is South Sudan

This is South Sudan

A Poem by Joseph Eluzai
"

Reflections on the long drawn resolution of outstanding issues about South Sudan's peace deal.

"

A whirlwind of mediation

Yet a mirage of expiation

A dogged peace deal

Badgered like a beggar’s meal

The wheels have ground to a halt

Freedom has lost its salt

Another round with a spill

A grist to the spoiler’s mill

This point we still miss

Even after the Pope’s kiss

The Vatican prays for saints

Like a broad brush that paints

It instead gets thorns

With long, long horns

A Prophet hurdles from Nigeria

To shore up the Ave Maria

Compromise, rings the message

No decorum, just a passage

All avenues dangling hollow

God has no one to follow

This is South Sudan!
