Namila
A Poem by Joseph Eluzai
A lighthearted feat of courtship....
Here is a
story of a girl
As
beautiful as a twirl
Adorned
with a beady necklace
Her charm
is but faceless
She is like
a prickly pin
With a rosy
glow of skin
In legions
of beauty she is easy to spot
Like my
mother’s black pot
With
graceful legs as long
As
grandmother’s favorite song!
Her voice
drips like oil
Triggering
boys’ toil
As she
wallows like a lioness
All her suitors
roar past keenness
Namila is
the reason for intense courtship
For a
season of cherished ownership
Even elders
twirl their mustache in wonder
To see her
shining yonder
