Africa or Erotica
A Poem by Joseph Eluzai
It is about Africa as perceived by an African.
This clump
of land is Africa
Not someone’s
collection of erotica
The world
makes her swell with erection
When all
Africa needs is resurrection
Someone
always has their vitals on the loose
Ditching
out graces of Africa they choose
Keeping her
blindfolded
Or making
sure she is scolded
These
shadowy beings are masquerades
Looting
Africa over new crusades
The rape of
Africa is ever stubborn
Just like a
stillborn
Who am I?
In the
world’s eye?
Iam a
fleeting shadow
Of an old,
wretched widow
Wedged
between want and despair
Groomed to
be poverty’s pair
Gripped by
fear and war
All in the
name of law
But Africa
holds the key
To a future
with me
This clump
of land is Africa
Not someone’s
collection of erotica
