Everyone thinks I am this person who is caring about people and school and won’t try to do anything wrong. I have told been this, meaning it as a compliment. But I can’t help to think this.
The perfect child
Always does as their told
That gets all the A’s
Seems perfect every way
But wait
But wait until they are alone
The walls come down
And the mask falls off
And what do we got
A not so perfect child after all
Hello, Lin, thank you for entering my contest! :)
I've worked with thousands of children. They were what they were, some fun, some obedient, some odd, some irritating. What's perfect?

There really isn’t a thing as perfect, yet I try. I try to be what everyone wants, even though I know I don’t have to. No one really asks, but I hate disappointing others.

My mom is more of the type that expresses what she feels and thinks no matter what others think. She isn’t scared to disappoint and to be a bit rude. I know her opinions on certain things and am scared to say anything against it. I feel to not disappoint for everyone, but I’m more scared to disappoint her; more than my dad.

It's one of the aches of growing up. Haha

My sister is very like her and they can’t really talk to each other without fighting. I have spoken up sometimes. She asked where I wanted to eat and I said Chick-fil-A. She made a comment about how we never go to Zaxby’s and how they had better salads. We still went to Chick-fil-A, but I couldn’t help to feel bad. She says I need to toughen up, which is probably true. But I can’t if I’m too scared to say anything against her.

I have a similar problem choosing restaurants with my wife. It seems she asks me where I want to go just to start an argument. Haha
If your father is more pleasant, spend more time with him. Haha

He spends a lot of time at work and resting. I think he took the hardest hit from the moves, with all the different jobs and all. He and my sister bike ride together. I would love to join but I can barely ride one, let alone keep up. My mom and I bond. I just watch what I say. And it does sometimes seems she asks questions just to start an argument, too.
People trot out glib comments, none of us are perfect, well.....joking.
My 17 year old daughter is a beautiful, beautiful young lady and all that we've ever asked is that she tries her best, is polite and respectful.

I know they are proud of me just being me but I can’t help wanting to be perfect. Everyone gets so used to it, it kind of starts defining me. Me acting this way is just me trying too hard and not anyone pushing me in that direction.
this almost felt like a little tale to me, i really like how simple it is. i think it is the simplicity that makes the reader assume that the speaker is actually the "perfect child" and they're letting the reader into their world. very nice!
