Fallen Angel

Fallen Angel

A Poem by H

"

I have fallen

Once again

From your grace

I chased the pills

With alcohol

And a couple lines

With each pill

It ate away

Part of my conscience

With each drink

It washed away

Part of my soul

And now I don't

Give a damn

How badly I hurt you

And now I don't

Know how to act

Like I am wrong

But somewhere, here

Inside these words

I still am alive

Outside the paper

I am numb

And heartless

Please Lord

Help me again

Don't let my pen run dry.

I'm sure that the Lord has lots of ink. But even he runs out, there's lot of us poets that have gallons to spare! :)
Tough times in this poem. Written from the soul of experience and tells it like it feels. May the ink continue to run for ya.

It appears this is told through the eyes of a relapsing drug user trying so hard to help herself, but fell back into the substances again. This poem is her escape from that world because she, the angel, fell right back into the drug induced hell of addiction again. It appears that the pen, or her poems, her written words, would be her lifeline with which she could help herself back out.
