CROSSOADS

CROSSOADS

A Poem by Lobelia
"

We all have our dreams, we hope to make them true. Yet, with that comes doubt, some would encourage us to go for it, while some would tell us to play it safe. So what should we choose?

"

Where do I stand?

What should I choose?

Should I do,

What everyone seems to be

Doing?

The risk would be too much,

They say.

Gamble it all,

They say.

Confused,

Scared,

I listen,

Yet,

Not really listening,

My thoughts are

A drowning mess.

Do I?

Should I?

Can I?

The “what if” moments

Are too many.

Between them,

I stand.

I know too well,

What I want.

But, I shouldn’t forget,

Can’t forget,

That nagging feeling

What if!

So,

What do I choose?

This side or that.

The wise

May say, ‘It doesn’t really matter.’

But,

It matters to me!

I fear.

I am cowardly,

Afraid to take the risk!

Afraid to throw it all

And plunge in my desire.

Afraid I won’t make them proud,

Afraid I won’t make it.

Clearly,

I don’t know

What to choose.

Still,

No one can choose for me.

Afraid,

Scared,

The question continues

What do I choose?
