I ran without a thought as to where my feet would lead
Pounding on the pavement in the silence of the street
The Stars they were my guide with them I'm not alone
Not just another starving child with no place to call home
I've power over demons who lurk in shadows door
They hunger for my fear and tear's “they starve”, I cry no more
I'll die here in this dungeon, some day they'll find my bones
My body to the earth my soul to peace unknown
But til that day arrives til death and I do meet
I'll follow my feet which follow the stars in the silence of the street
I can't be sure, but this sounds like a kid to me for some reason. Even if thats not what you have intended, this poem is about a kid, says me lol. I think it is sad, but i think the main person used to be something big ya know?
I agree with the reviews below, this is a hauntingly beautiful piece, that you could read in so many different ways. A homeless kid fallen through the cracks of society, a woman on the run for the law, an attempted escape from a nightmarish future society...
I like how the frankness of the narrator in the matter of facing (an inevitable?) death, contradicts with the following of the stars in perhaps a kind of amazment/future child-like hope... I like lots of things about this.
A really really good piece, and a fantastic line to end it all!
^_^ Why, thank you for your review, Miss. I haven't read anyone else's stuff yet since I joined today, so as thanks, I'm reviewing yours first. I thought this was a elegant piece of sorts, I'm fond of the use of "demons" in poetry (or rather, spiritual beings in general) but most of all I liked the last two lines; especially "...follow my feet which follow the stars..." that sounds like something I would say. Well done!
I like Ghibli films, Peanut butter cookies, yoplait whips yogurt, Swimming, Amy Whinehouse, and my fav movie is "The 5,000 fingers of Dr. T" By Dr. Seuss more..
