Story BookA Poem by Adrienne St.RomainMy life was never a, "Once upon a Time" fairy tale that little girls dream of. So convinced that my, "Knight in Shinning Armor" was all that and then some, Just like Snow White, I ate that damn apple, Never to wake up to my, "Prince Charming." Just slumbered away like, "Sleeping Beauty." Dreaming of a place in the sky, Where "Wendy, John and Michael" fly...free from worry. With Cinderella as my mentor for some time, I placed everything before me. Never tending to my own want's, wishes and needs. Sat around waiting for my Jack to come back with his golden egg laying goose, Only to find that it was mere fantasy, And all those magical beans grew were nothing but weeds, He flew away like Peter Pan, Laughing and playing in Never-Neverland. Where we all know, children never grow old and its all make believe. Like Rapunzel...I was locked away, This so-say Prince of mine, He didnt take me to the ball, Either the glass slipper didnt fit, Or the pumpkin was too small. © 2015 Adrienne St.Romain |
