Soul Love

Soul Love

A Poem by E.A. Standifer

I still believe in a love that surpasses the limits of time and space,

Through eras and dimensions, that never ceases chase.

And this love, I know, is gentle. This love, I know, is kind.

No distance too far forward. No expanse too far behind.

Where both urgency and patience simultaneously find their place,

In a love that seeks the soul, regardless of the face.

And, too potent for the weak, such love presents extremely rare.

Elusive, so to speak, for most unfit to bear.

The weight of love profound.

That can sometimes pass us by.

A cry without a sound,

A spark left undescried.

A soul unrecognizable, dyed, the colors of its thoughts,

Tainted, scarred, and twisted. Blinding both seeker and the sought.

But, my darling, rest assured: even if this life be vexed,

The soul will, once again, be pure. And love will seek it in the next.
