men. [UNFINISHED.]

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors
"

beggining of a song. story of a single mom.

"
Boys this day & age fill me with rage.
Love is just a faux play they stage.
To make you give it up, pull down your pants.
All in the filth-caked name of Romance.

You think because you have his baby he’ll stay.
But when you call his name he’s silent, he’s got nothing to say.
He denies that is his, says it must be some other guy’s.
When you know you were a virgin, he’s spitting out lies.
Now you’re on the Maury show, crying your eyes out on the TV.
While people look at you, with wide, bottomless eyes, filled with fake pity.
All they want to see is the fights, the chair-throwing, it’s worse than rape.
They follow when you run backstage, sobbing. “Did you get that on tape?”
After the show, when you’re holding your baby, your only joy.

You think to yourself that she’s the only gift you got from that boy.

Boys this day & age fill me with rage.
Love is just a faux play they stage.
To make you give it up, pull down your pants.
All in the filth-caked name of Romance.

So you’re home with your girl, watching the show, you see her crying?
She’s changed over the years, face stained by tears, worn down from trying.
To raise a child you denied, oh my god the baby's got your eyes.
