Always Too Late

Always Too Late

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors
"

=/ Don. That's All I Have To Say. Enjoy.

"

I’ve finally found the resolution
I’m having to live without the solution.
My once pure soul is choked with pollution.
My once clear head is swimming in delusion.
My once strong heart is weakened by confusion.
Happiness for me is now a flickering illusion.
Pain & sorrow is my heart’s brand new fusion.

Forgotten memories are coming back, sharp & clear.
White-hot pain & agony of what I missed begins to sear.
Words you spoke to me that I didn’t even hear.
I can feel your arms about me, even as I stare into a mirror.
And see there’s no one to keep me company except my tears.
No one whispers to me except the voices of my fears.
Sweet visions of the futures & promises fell on deaf ears.

By the time I started appreciating your love it was too late.
You were gone from my side forever, you didn’t even wait.
You’d dropped me, let me fall & left me in a miserable state.
And when better love & promises came along, you took the bait.
And while you walked away I stood behind Solitude’s gate.
Surrounded by a lonely world of age-old sorrows & ancient hate.
Will I always self-destruct my happiness, is this my true fate?

The word "mirror" ruined the whole flow of the middle stanza. I liked how the sentences got longer and more complicated further down the poem. Aside from "mirror" the rhyming seemed well thought out. The poem was dark and gloomy, but it didn't move me as much as your other works. I feel that too much effort was put into the rhyming and not enough into the "meat" of the poem.
An okay piece, but I believe that you can excell beyond this.

Beautiful poem. Rhyming and the flow, as mentioned by other reviewers, is impressive. The topic you wrote too is an interesting one. To realize the value of someone too late is a regret most of us experience at some point in our life.
I found something which I think might be improved a little. The lines:

"My once pure soul is choked with pollution.
My once clear head is swimming in delusion.
My once strong heart is weakened by confusion."

I feel the repetition of 'my' is something which might be a little boring for some readers. But hey, if you feel otherwise, don't worry. Not a major issue. Just my 2 cents :)

happyness is a state of mind ,
in this case ur consious is your judge and jury that onl;y questioned you cause u felt you were wrong,
interesting the jury is still out..loved it all the ( tions ) made since instead of using them as most writers use them as just rhymes. they did serve a purpose..peace wizthom

Great job on the rhyme my friend. Sorrow speaks of profound words.

Great job!

Well done Lizz! I loved how the three separate stanzas all rhymed within themselves. It made for a nice, fluid read, as I expected the next line to end as such, so it just kept on a flowing! You always have such great emotions in your writing. Nicely done!
