Throwing Me Away

Throwing Me Away

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors

I never saw this coming,
I never thought that you were that kind of guy,
Even though the pain is numbing,
My heart has bullet holes from all the lies.

If your goal was to hurt me,
Well then you did a very good job of it,
Cupid’s arrow sometimes kills,
But I never thought we would be hit.

(Chorus)
So if I’m the only good thing in your life,
Why are you throwing me away?
Slashing through my heart with a bloodstained knife,
You’ll look back & regret one day.
(End Chorus)

I guess you’re just no better
Than every other selfish guy I’ve ever met.
I’m burning pictures & letters,
If I rubbed my eyes I bet I’d find them wet.

You were the best damn thing I ever had,
I wish that you wouldn’t go.
This is still fixable it isn’t all bad,
Why are you giving up? Just let me know…

(Chorus)
So if I’m the only good thing in your life,
Why are you throwing me away?
Slashing through my heart with a bloodstained knife,
You’ll look back & regret one day.
(End Chorus)
