A Sad Little Love Story

A Sad Little Love Story

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors
"

IDK where this came from it came while I was listening to "whiskey Lullaby" which always makes me cry. Omg I think it's a fusion of another one of my poems 'Hey Baby', Bon Jovi's song 'Livin' On a Prayer' & 'Whiskey Lullaby' by Brad Paisley

"
She tore him up, & broke him down.
She never blinked once, or turned around.
Never checked to see if he was okay,
Now she’s haunted by the price she payed.

It started on a sunny day in the middle of fall.
She was a waitress & he hid behind a wall.
It was love at first sight, she came up with a smile.
Took his order, they ended up talking for a while.

She gave him her number, he lingered, then went,
She hid her small smile with her head bent.
They were friends first, it turned to more than that.
But she went into a temper at the drop of a hat.

Accused him of cheating, of drinking, of lying.
And on the inside, both were slowly dying.
They always made up but one day he snapped.
She fell over the table, rubbing the cheek he slapped.

Took off on a plane as soon as she packed,
With tears in her eyes as she looked back.
Two months later, she heard it on the news,
The only evidence on the bridge was his blue & white shoes.

She drank every day & cried every night.
Drank until the whiskey blurred her sight.
It took her to the place where he had fallen.
She dropped the bottle over the edge, her eyes red & swollen.

She slipped off her black heels, while staring down the height.
She didn’t care if it was painful, if it wasn’t right.
She stood on top of the railing, a smile on her face,

And that night another lost soul fell from grace.

great poem. It really depicted how far someone is willing to go in the midst of pain and anguish. The story itself was told beautifully and the pace was well kept. Thanks for putting it up for everyone to read.
