Never Knew You

Never Knew You

A Poem by Mercury Mirrors

I never thought it could happen to me,
That I could be shot down for all to see.
That I could be raped by someone like you.
You brought me so high just to make me a fool.

You never cared about me at all,
All you wanted was to see me fall.
Now you’re ruining me permanently,
I guess I know it wasn’t meant to be.

How could you say you loved me so,
Give me a ring, then bring me so low.
Throw me in the mud, with a loud thud!
Then sit there, glaring down at me, so smug.

But mud can be washed off & so can you.
I’ll dust myself off & walk away from you.
You’re only a stain on a pure heart.
I won’t let one scratch rip my life apart.
