Sick LoveA Poem by Mercury MirrorsDo you ever write without really thinking about it & the next thing you know you've got a whole page that you don't even remember typing up? Well, I did that while talking to Richie & I guess I was remembering the time he wasn't well....having a g
Feels like broken glass inside me.
Every time I take a shaky breath it hurts.
Feels like everything’s dead inside me.
There’s bright crimson blood on my white shirt.
You treat me like I’m a cheap child’s toy,
When you outgrow me you throw me away.
You treat me like I’m the source of your joy,
Then spit on me the very next day.
There’s nothing left for me with you,
But you won’t let me leave ever again.
You lock me in a dark room with you,
& tell me if I scream you’ll draw out the pain.
There’s a knife on the wooden nightstand.
You pick it up & lick the sharpened steel,
I scream & knock it from your hand,
You deliver me a blow that makes me reel.
As I fall against the dirty, sweat stained bed,
You follow & pin me so I can’t breath, crushed down.
Bony hands curl around my throbbing head,
As they start to twist, I hear a snapping sound.
Spitting up blood, drawing in rattling breaths,
I could see you over me still, holding the knife.
The last thing I saw was my favorite smile.
Before you drove it into your heart & ended your life.
