New Years Eve

New Years Eve

A Poem by LizzieCRae

Lying there, staring at the bedroom ceiling,

Room spinning, Auld Lang Syne,

Torn out eardrums, Fireworks screaming,

Smudged lipstick, awkward kisses,

Clumsy.

Prosecco, Spilt,

“I love you”, dumbstruck,

Hiccup.

Light touching of the inner thigh, shivers,

Cold toes, no clothes,

Eyes locking, vacant.

Two naked souls, skin

trembling.

flesh, Friction,

bone dancing.

Fingertips, pressure,

Nails digging, hot breath,

Swollen.

Groaning and then,

Sighs.

“I love you”, dumbstruck.

The poem captured with an economy of telling words the scene and the outcome. Nicely understated and effective. Naked indeed.
