All I AskA Poem by Write4theSkyRemember Me“Listen!” I beg, using all my strength to release the
truths caught in my throat. How can I explain and free the girl inside myself when I’ve been suppressing her for twelve years? Your face is composed most surely as I stumble through my words. When no more will come, I receive a brisk nod as you place this girl in the “Done” box. I was silent for the lifetime of a child. I will not be finished: not hidden away. Please, all I ask is for you to Hear Me. You look at me, look at my
accomplishments, and determine that I am doing
fine. Placing a “Great” on the little
paper that marks my life, your duty is complete. Can’t you see how much I need
someone to save me from this river of hollow
accomplishments? The current is pulling me to a perfect I don’t want to achieve. Why can’t you believe that if you
let me drop “Great”, I could reach amazing? Don’t you see that I will always need to
improve? A slip of paper cannot represent
any girl. Please, all I ask, is for you to See Me. See me, hear me; do not drift away to your shielded systematic world, because it is a illusion that shuts me out time and time again. I am not a project to occasionally check in on. I am a person. When I am gone, Your messy duty will be over. So please, stay here, help me grow. And when I walk away, Remember me. Remember Me. Please, that’s all I ask. © 2010 Write4theSky |
