![]() Dismembered NationA Poem by Lizza543![]() A because poem I had to write for Creative Writing HW.![]() Because cigarette smoke burns a ring of smut and gray, Because dark embers of light and lava spark against monochrome walls, We, awkward aliens of the universe, stand divided between gallons of war paint And the enemy’s blood. Because our minds come tainted with unspeakable thoughts, Because our bare feet burn and irritate as they stroll across stones, The sound of crackle and fumble of weapons and evil stain ancient walkways. Because air has become constricted with lies and deception, Because the tides struggle to abundantly flow, Our breath, our lungs, freeze over to a stagnating hum. Because our bodies bathe in the hellish glow of fire, Because chimney dust makes its way onto the outline of clouds, The devious minds making up our array of colored heads align unevenly. Because carefully planned tactics fester and boil into forgotten scars, Because the egos of big shot political demons creep about blood trenched caves, The bannered flag of red, blue and white, with a small universe of stars, hangs in black lowlight. Because purposeful devastation rips through our poor soil, Because the hearts of our fascist leaders burn black and empty, We, all in all, have little hope. © 2010 Lizza543 |
