For Such An Amazing Friend

For Such An Amazing Friend

A Poem by Liz Geiger

Writing poems about the past,
Making me sound wiser than my years,
About things adults say we know nothing about.

About you and me,
The way things used to be,
The fighting, the love, the pain.

Reading it back saddens my heart,
The love is gone.
But the friendship remains.

We talk everyday like we used to,
But it's not the same,
Things have changed.

We have grown,
New loves have come,
But somethings remain the same.

We act silly and foolish,
Can talk about anything,
Like nothing has changed.

We tell secrets,
And ask advice,
And make fun of each other all day.

We can make light of the most,
Awkward, weird, saddest things,
But remember the seriousness of it all.

We can go off on a "no your not" "yes I am" fight that lasts for hours,
And in the end laugh,
Because we have no idea what it was about.

Even if you're not my #1,
There will always be a special place in my heart for you,
For such an amazing friend.
