Written On The Walls

Written On The Walls

A Poem by Liz

I can feel it in the air
While I hear it in my mind
And it's written on the walls;

Staring directly into the mirror
Facing back stands a creature
Unknowingly searching to find
A girl buried deep inside

One day, that's all I ask
To somehow make the magic last
Won't you allow a smile to stay
Keep it from always fading away

Nighttime terrors still remain
Hoping to finally, someway be saved
Siblings feeding from the lonely
Take me from the darkness only

Leave now while you've got the chance
Turn around without a second glance
Cuz' you are bound to feel my hurt
Leave one eye open, wide and alert

Feeling the eyes being the window to the soul/true self is a recurring theme in your writes, and i totally agree. you use it to such great effect in your writing.
ps...sorry if this is wrong. i don't really like talking about my opinion of what is someone elses writing, which can be a very personal thing. Just an observation. excellent write.

Good poem Liz. I'm about your age (a junior in high school). I enjoyed this piece, and finding another poet my age with talent. Thanks for the read

Wow. You're just a little older than me, and you already write this good? I wonder if I can do that too..
What I liked here is the smooth flow of your poem. The words you used, I think, weren't just randomly picked. It fitted perfectly. Yes, the emotion here is strong, it's sad, yet so beautifully delivered. I loved the rhymes, especially the last two lines.

A favorite of mine. The image is vivid. The writing on the walls the strongest is what'll leave an impact on your heart.
